Foreword
Meeting the changing needs of the people of Sunderland is essential to the success of our city.We believe that everyone who lives in Sunderland deserves the very best services and facilities as well as the opportunity to achieve their own goals and improve their quality of life.
This must be achieved within the constraints of a prudent economic regime, allowing us the opportunity to continue to be the lowest Council Tax Charge area in the North East of England and one of the lowest, like for like, in the country.
Your Labour councillors have listened to the views of Sunderland people out in their own communities and have based our blueprint for the next five years on them. This manifesto is the result, based on what people have told us they want.
It sets out the central role that a Labour run City Council would play in responding to the needs of local people and their communities to help us all make Sunderland a better place in which to live, work, study and relax.
